Cover illustrations for a triathlon podcast
About
As part of the bewegungsARTen podcast team, I created custom cover illustrations for every episode. The goal was to visually translate discussions around triathlon, cycling, and running into recognizable and engaging artwork.

Context
bewegungsARTen was founded by former German professional triathlete Gregor Buchholz and co-hosted by former professional long-distance triathlete Horst Reichel and former eSport cyclist Eva Buchholz.
Every two weeks, the podcast covered current topics and discussions from the world of endurance sports.
Target Audience
The podcast targeted people interested in triathlon, from passionate hobby athletes to competitive athletes and sports fans.
The covers needed to be visually engaging while also helping listeners quickly understand the focus of each episode.
Process
The process started by listening to the recorded episode while taking notes about key themes, stories, or moments that could be translated visually.
While listening, an initial image formed quite naturally. I then translated that first idea into quick digital sketches and shared them with the team before moving into the final illustration.
From thereon I developed the cover. Since episodes were usually recorded on Sundays and published on Tuesday mornings, the process often had relatively short turnaround times and required working efficiently.

Outcome
The project resulted in a growing collection of episode illustrations that became part of the podcast’s visual identity.
Working on a recurring format also helped strengthen my ability to quickly develop concepts and translate ideas into visual storytelling.
Reflection
What worked especially well was developing a structured process that still allowed enough room for creativity.
One of the biggest learnings for me was how important it is to find the core idea of a story and reduce it into one clear visual concept.
